LIVELIHOOD OPPORTUNITIES FOR SINGLE WOMEN-HEADED FAMILIES

LIVELIHOOD OPPORTUNITIES FOR SINGLE WOMEN-HEADED FAMILIES

The aim of this project is to improve income in 1388 single women-led families in 43 rural villages in 4 districts (Trichy, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Kancheepuram) of Tamil Nadu. The program also encourages community participation to address social norms that affect gender equality and attitudes and behaviour towards single women in particular.

The single women include1259 widows, 66 separated and 63 unmarried women. These women are frequently subjected to discrimination, impacting on their psychological state, dignity, self-esteem and physical health.
